Gas heating is expensive as gas prices have gone up. Heat pumps are efficient but cost several thousand dollars and also require electricity in real time. Which means more electricity is needed in winter evenings when demand is already high and solar output is zero.
The thermal battery presents a smart solution that uses excess solar PV output and converts it to heat and conserves the heat and allows release in the evening.
This effectively reduces gas demand and also electricity demand in homes where resistive heaters are in service.

Storing the excess day time electricity to heat and time shifting it to the evening to displace gas used in space heating.
Reducing the amount of electricity used in the evening to run heat pumps and reverse cycle air conditioners for space heating.
Absorbing the excess roof top solar which is currently forcing record amounts of renewables curtailment on sunny days.
Reducing curtailment is also done by home batteries except a 13kwh lithium home battery would cost in the order of $10000 our Thermal battery is priced at $1000 and even less during the trial
The thermal water battery can also be adapted to provide limited capacity instant water heating for small homes with 1 or 2 people particularly benefitting the energy poor who think about the bill before having a hot shower
